and when you forget that he's there

Lunch

It is not very often that I get a break like this, two and a half hours off work. Lucky for me, work is only three train stops from home. I do not wait for the heater but instead take a cold shower that pulls my skin as taut as a grape.

I look in the mirror while toweling myself dry and observe my face carefully for the first time in years.
