at work today i looked at my watch and the time was 3:17pm i opened a slim sachet of 3 in 1 coffee mix into a plastic green basic miltary training mug and doused it in hot water from the water cooler. there are two water coolers in the vicinity of my office and in the past 3 months i have been always confused as to which one to use cause both of them seem to be about the same distance but i am never sure. i finally one day decided to measure the number of steps each route took. the water cooler to the left of the office was 29 steps and the one to the right was 23 steps. i now patronise water cooler on the right. it is also closer to the toilet which is 34 steps away. when i walk to the toilet or the water cooler to refill my water bottle i imagine a computer screen loading bar the sort you would see when you download something and the more i walk the further the load % blue bar lurches forward
anyway i made my coffee and then i sat down and listened to people talk rubbish in the office and after awhile it looked like it was going to rain and just a little it indeed began to rain. i was halfway through the cup of coffee when a grumpy old army man came into the office and started hollering at people to do stuff even though we do him favours all the time and my friend whispered to me and asked me to guess when the last time he had sex was and his guess was at least 17 years ago which must be really sad not to have any loving going on for that long but this army man was such a fuckin awful soul 17 years seems really modest and entirely possible.
i read the papers again a little about molesters that have been caught and the complaint section which is always funny because you can see how pissed off people are at everything in general but mostly pissed off about the efficiency of transport and the level of security. another favorite topic to 'discuss' (there is no discussion people just bitch about it)is the level of service standards in our very fully conscious country.
after i finished the last of my coffee i started to wish i was back at home reclining on the sofa having a strawberry jam sandwich watching television and tearing into a cold six pack, which i eventually did later on that night.
