today i took it easy with a nap in the afternoon after sparking up. a while before the sun completely set i walked down to the mekong river and asked a boatman whether he could take me on a sunset trip down the river. we agreed on a price, 50 000 kip, about 5 usd. for about one and a half hours we just cruised about in the presence of the setting sun.
as usual at night as i drank a beer, ong came and sat with me to talk. i bought him a pepsi. soon enough another little girl who was selling bracelets on the street took a seat and demanded more than asked for a coke. i've seen her before, she had asked me to buy her a drink, which i did.
'ok' i said.
she chose a black tea drink which cost two times more than the coke. this is what she did the last time too, ask for a coke, and then choose the most expensive drink.
i bought the drink for her and resumed my seat, careful not to look like michael jackson. after another beer i waved goodbye to them and returned to my room where i read a haruki murakami book until i fell asleep.
